Western Wall

It seemed we were the only tourists this early in the morning. The men, facing the wall, made some kind of singing sound (play video to hear it). They bobbed up and down with their bodies and used their prayer books and rituals. (Picture by Teresa)

Now almost all the men were adorned with prayer shawls (talith), tefillin and phylacteries

Remember the poor

We stayed mostly in the back of the women's side, wondering what, and who, is worshiped at this wall. In 2 Kings 18:4 Hezekiah breaks the bronze snake into pieces because the people have started to worship it instead of the creator, God.
"[Hezekiah] removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it."

Jesus said, "my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matt. 11:30).
