Up to Jerusalem

Our usual lunch yummy pita bread

Igol & Nadav the guys who made the whole trip go smooth
Gates would open when we arrived and
food would appear at lunch time
they worked in the background but were a very important
part of the success of this trip

I'd hoped to stop here
terraced hill or Gahn
biblical picture of a garden

Getting closer to jerusalem

At the Israel museum we looked at David's city
the little "Florida like" spur in the foreground
this was to help us orient ourselves in modern Jerusalem

practise:
Temple Mount
David's city
Lower city,
upper city,
business district,
new city

Mount of Olives,
Kidron Valley,
Mount Moriah,
Tyropoeon valley
Western Hill
Hinnom Valley

beside the model is this building:

It houses the dead sea scrolls
Todd was wise to challenge us not to "race" through this building
He advised to take at least half an hour to actually see and take in

The hymn ancient words was continually going through my mind
and it got tears to my eyes

Ancient words ever true
changing me and changing you
we have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart

see the temple mount and the spur is a little harder to find these days
that's because the Tyropoeon valley is almost filled up

Group Picture

There was still some light, so Marc and I walked to explore
we went to an orthodox neighbourhood
it was just Marc and I so we walked back and met up with Mike & Colleen

the 4 of us went to the old city
on the way we saw this lady selling leaves

 Damascus Gate

We were advised to go in a group with a male
and I think that was good advise

It is special to walk in Jerusalem
