the Mediterranaen sea

Our speaker that evening was a messianic (Christ following) Jew. He has a real heart for his orthodox countrymen.
We went for a walk in the dark. It gets dark at 5.30 already! We walked on the beach and a bit in the water.

In this picture is a truck with a car on it. We saw a lot of these kinds of trucks while in Israel. They pick up cars that are parked in the wrong place and take them to a place where the owner can bail his/her car out. We were told that there are more cars in Israel than people. The people there park their cars anywhere and everywhere. I even saw a car parked on the inside curb of a roundabout.
Everyday parking in Nazareth.

Arrival

We walked down the stairs and went by bus to the terminal.

In flight

We flew over the Netherlands. We saw the rivers and the flat countryside.

...onwards over the Alps. We even saw Italy's "boot".

Next came Israel's coastline.

We finally landed at Ben Gurion airport, Tel Aviv. The city is still quite a ride from there.

Day 2 Wednesday October 31 2007

We start with day 2, because day 1 started 10 minutes before midnight. This is a Jewish way of counting the days. Every part of a day counts as a whole day. We departed from Toronto. We went through customs as a group and each got an interview with a custom's officer. Irene got a seat in between 2 men - one who didn't know much English and one who snored and drooled.

The pictures on this blog have been made by Olga, Irene, and I unless otherwise noted.
